Scope and Contents
This series consists of handwritten and typed works across a variety of materials, including notebooks, notepads, and loose sheets of paper. Subseries A includes handwritten and typed poems on a variety of different writing surfaces, such as loose pages, notepads, notebooks, and in the margins of other works and clippings. Noteworthy items in this series include project notes and draft text for Black Brigade, a notebook featuring journal entries, notes, ideas, and poems from time spent in London, UK, and a folder of unfinished prose works (titled Incomplete Fiction). Typed manuscripts for many of his books are included in subseries B, including some with notes from publishers. Finally, subseries C holds materials related to collaborations Williams was involved in. Materials in this subseries include sheet music, lyrics, and performance ephemera.

Terms of Access and Use
The Tyrone Williams papers, 1969-2021 are open to researchers. Portions of this collection have been minimally processed. Privacy protected information (including but not limited to certain educational, medical, financial, criminal, attorney-client, and/or personnel records) may be revealed during use of archival collections, particularly in collections that are unprocessed or have been minimally processed. Researchers agree to make no notes or other recordation of privacy protected information if found within the archival collections, and further agree not to publish, publicize, or disclose such information to any other party for any purpose if found within the archival collections.
