Incorporated 1784; governed by the Board of Regents. The University is a supervising and examining, rather than a teaching institution. It has supervision over the State’s entire system of elementary, secondary, and higher education. Not to be confused with the State University of New York.

University of the State of New York student exams collection was gifted to University Archives by Maureen Triggle, in May, 1986, accession number unrecorded. The collection was initially added to the Archives vertical file. It was removed in March 2019 to create this collection.
