Biographical Note

The following was relayed by Elizabeth Triana, niece of Eleanore Zaengle, via written correspondence at the time of donation:

Eleanore Zaengle likely attended Millard Fillmore College in 1937 or 1938, but we have no record she earned a degree. She was born in 1918 and graduated high school in 1936.

Eventually, she moved to Denver, Colorado, becoming active in community life, and went on to own a Kelly Services franchise with her husband, Ray Tillery.

At the age of 50 she began sculpting classes to ease the pain of her severe arthritis. Within a few years she had a studio and a gallery, and she was commissioned by museums and corporations (Bank of America for one), to create works of art for lobbies, outdoor sculpture gardens, and parks. She worked primarily in bronze and lived in Denver until her death in 2005.
