Scope and Contents
Records include clippings, correspondence, legislative bulletins, minutes, and newsletters concerning contract negotiations, Article 20, Article 38, and SUNY Health Science Centers.
Article 20 of the contract between United University Professions (UUP) and the Office of Employee Relations of SUNY concerned salary settlements of professional faculty. Article 38 discussed management topics: promotion, tenure, faculty work load, and funding sources for research.

The bulk of the records are open for research, with the exception of folder 2.8 on grievances and personnel actions, which is closed until 2048, pursuant to University Archives Restricted Records Policy.

Historical Note
The Senate Professional Association (SPA) formed in Spring 1970, and by January 1971 was certified by the Public Employment Relations Board as bargaining agent for SUNY. In 1973, SPA and the State University Federation of Teachers (SUFT) merged to form SUNY/United, which was re-named United University Professionals (UUP).
Zebulon Taintor was a member of the SPA Article 20 Committee, chairman of the Article 38 committee and later, president of the Buffalo Health Sciences SPA chapter.

Acquisition Information
The Zebulon Taintor files on Senate Professional Association were transferred to University Archives in the mid-1980s with the Robert E. Fisk papers, 17/2F/359. The Taintor files were separated from the Fisk papers to comprise this collection.
