Biographical

Charles R. Dawson worked in city planning for over fifty years, beginning in 1949 as an assistant planner for research for the former City Planning Commission of Buffalo, NY. Most notable was his professional consulting practice, in which he worked on planning and zoning cases for a variety of Western New York towns and cities as well as other cities across the country. Dawson also served as an expert witness in planning-related court cases, and had a reputation as a vigilant governmental watchdog until he died in 2002 at the age of 77.

This collection is arranged in three series: I. General, II. Buffalo, NY, III. Other cities, municipalities, and towns. Items are further arranged alphabetically by client name.

Acquisition Information

The Charles R. Dawson records were donated to the University Archives by Charles Dawson's wife, Mrs. A. Dawson, in December 2003.
