Collection includes photographs of University of Buffalo varsity swimmers and tennis players (some are identified, most are not dated); planning documents for athletic facilities, swimming and diving score records, curricular material, and information about professional organizations which Sanford belonged to. Also included is the San-Dell Computer No.1 for Diving and Synchronized Swimming (1958) developed by Sanford and Robert W. Bedell.

Biographical Note

William H. Sanford, III, was born in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1920. He graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1948 and became the University's first swimming coach the same year. He retired in 1980. Sanford died in 1991. For more information, see the University Archives' biographical file.
