Scope and Contents
Oliver Perry Jones' papers, 1932-1989, concerning his professional activities in Hematology and Anatomy, his lectures and publications, and his medical anatomy students' anomaly reports. Jones' papers contain correspondence, newspaper clippings, reports and lectures, photographs, and other material associated with: the American Association of Anatomists, the International Congress of Anatomists, the International Society of Hematology, the National Society for Medical Research, the International Congress for Electron Microscopy, the Buswell Fellowship, BLOOD, and the University at Buffalo Medical School. Biographical Note
Oliver Perry Jones (1906-1989), distinguished professor emeritus of Anatomy. Jones received his B.A. from Temple University in 1929, his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota in 1935, and his M.D. at the University of Buffalo in 1956. He taught anatomy at the University of Minnesota (1935-1937), the University of Buffalo (1937-1971). In 1971, Jones was made a professor emeritus. Jones was recognized as one of the world's experts on red blood cells. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Researcher Award from the Buffalo Chapter of Sigma Chi for being a pioneer in the use of the electron microscope in morphological studies of blood.
