Historical Note
Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, is a human rights activist, philanthropist and advocate. More than 50 years after the University at Buffalo's undergraduate and graduate student associations invited his father to Buffalo in 1967, they extended the same invitation to King. On April 26, 2022, King spoke to a crowd of hundreds in the Center for the Arts on peaceful protest, nonviolence, and equality.
