Historical Note

The Committee to Name Buildings was appointed by William C. Baird, Chairman of the University Council of the State University of New York at Buffalo, in 1971. The Committee devised criteria for the selection of names for buildings, roads, plazas and interior spaces on the university campus and selected names for recommendation to the University Council. After approval by the University Council, the names were submitted to the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York for final approval.

Series II. Biographical files of proposed names, alphabetically by last name.

Acquisition Information

The University Council Committee to Name Buildings records, 1972-1980, were transferred to University Archives by the Office of Public Affairs on December 12, 1984 as accession 84-098.
