Scope and Contents

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs Budget files, 1966-1973, includes materials related to the creation of the annual university budget including: correspondence, memos, budget justifications, preliminary budgets, budgetary reviews, enrollment and admissions data, enrollment projections, program and department reviews, and budget summaries.

Carton one includes: Nursing program reports, admissions and enrollment data, teaching load statistics, capital project budget requests, budget proposal, registration data, budget worksheets, and correspondence.

Carton two includes: Correspondence, enrollment and registration data, budget committee documents, budget requests and analysis, budget condition reports, restricted current fund and institutional loan fund, rosters of uncommitted vacant positions, and department allocations by function.

Carton three includes: Budget correspondence, reports, budget requests, task force on international studies report, roster of uncommitted vacant positions, and restricted current fund and institutional loan fund.

Historical Note

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs was previously called the Office of the Dean of Administration through 1955, followed by the office of the Vice Chancellor for Educational Affairs from 1955-1962, from 1962 through 1965 it was called the Office of the Vice President for Educational Affairs, from 1965 through 1968 it was the Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Educational Affairs, from 1968 through 1974 it became the Office of the Vice President for Academic Development, from 1974 through 1987 it was called the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. After which it became the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. In the past the office has been responsible for having general supervision of the educational divisions of the University, supervision of facility use, and supervising the schedule of classes. The office has also been responsible for preparing an annual budget of the University which required obtaining income and expenditure estimates from the vice presidents, deans, and directors.

Acquisition Information

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs Budget files, 1966-1973 was transferred to University Archives from the basement of Hayes Hall as authorized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, on December 8, 1978 as accession 78-061.
