Case files, 1934-1994

 Series
Identifier: Series II

Scope and Contents

Contains reports from autopsies, brain dissections, and other pathological procedures. Reports include basic patient information and history, results of a Physician's exam, course of treatment, data from lab work, and findings of autopsy. Most reports are not authored by Dr. Olszewski.

Notation Note: Dr. Olszewski's numbering system, retained during processing, was based on Buffalo General Hospital's case file numbering system.

Before 1957, case files were numbered chronologically (example: Autopsy No. 3246 or Autopsy No. 124).

When the numbers reached 10,000 in 1957, the hospital restarted their numbering system. Numbers were again assigned chronologically, but the corresponding year was added to the number (example: A-22/57 or A-110/58).

After a couple of years, the year was dropped and the numbering continued to be chronological (example: A-2462 or A-6541).

Any notation with an "m" after it signifies that it is a microscopic view.
