Contains digital video of former United Nations Ambassador and National Security Advisor Susan Rice’s appearance on February 28, 2018 in Alumni Arena as part of the 2017-2018 Distinguished Speakers Series and the 42nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Event.

Reflection on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Pastor at Greaterworks Christian Leadership, L. Darnell Donalson (05:25), followed by a University welcome by President Satish K. Tripathi (09:00), and an introduction to the speaker by Linwood Roberts (11:45). Introductions followed by Susan Rice’s speech on the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (14:45). Speech followed by a question and answer session moderated from stage by the Chair of the Department of History, Victoria Wolcott, and moderated from the floor by the Director of Community Relations, Tess Morrisey (27:45). Questions include: How did your study of history shape your perspective on foreign policy? (28:45); Why critical historical review is important at this moment? (30:50); Which two external threats is the United States currently facing? (32:40); What is your reaction to Daniel Cotes interview? Processing Information

Digital files created by William Regan and the Office of Special Events were transferred to the University Archives on various types of storage media including compact discs and digital optical discs. Where possible, digital content saved on storage media was migrated from the storage media, normalized to standard preservation and access formats, and transferred to a stable preservation environment following the University Libraries' Digital Preservation guidelines. Some folder titles and file titles were altered to assist researchers in locating and identifying digital content.
