Historical Note

The Jewish Buffalo Archives Project (JBAP) is a collaborative initiative of the Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Buffalo and the University Archives in the University Libraries of the University at Buffalo. The goal of the JBAP is to comprehensively document a mid-size American Jewish community in its near entirety, building a Jewish community archive for scholars, researchers, journalists, educators, genealogists and others to explore this heritage.

The Jewish Buffalo Archives Project collects and preserves documentation relating to the diverse histories, religious traditions and cultures of Jewish communities within the Greater Buffalo and Niagara area of Western New York. All materials collected by the JBAP are available for research through the University Archives within the University at Buffalo. Oral histories record the recollections of a broad array of individuals to preserve the collective stories of our diverse community.

Includes materials created by auxiliaries, religious school, leadership, administration and clergy.
